Another Chance

coffeshop night.jpg

I sat in the wooden chair

silent and careful not to stare.

Chatter dully rang around us

but all I could truly hear

was one voice

my own, loud and clear.

The brightly lit cafe stood out

in the cool, dark night

as I took a chance

and a blind leap.

For fear fled some time ago

once hope had settled in.

I’m not sure if I believe in fate

But I know a pattern of coincidences have aligned

For us to be there, together that night.

In all of my young life,

you were the first to catch my eye.

And there we were.

I took another glance

and realized that this

was my second chance.

And I would not risk

losing you again.
